What is ROUTING NUMBER and What is the use of ROUTING NUMBER.

A routing number is a nine-digit code that every bank and credit union received from the US FEDERAL RESERVE. A routing number is used by the bank for the wire transfer from one institution to another.
No two banks have the same routing number although some larger institution and credit union have the multiple routing numbers. On the other hand, the swift code is used to receive overseas and international money transfer.
The first four digits are called the Federal Reserve Processing Symbol. The first two digits deal with the head branch of the Federal Reserve district that serves the bank.
The third digit indicates the Federal Reserve processing center assigned to the bank. The fourth digit specifically indicates the bank’s location.
The next four digits are actually randomized, assigned to the bank per the ABA.
The final digit is the “check digit” that confirms the bank’s validity.
These numbers don’t make bank fraud impossible, they do make it possible financial institutions to “talk” to each other so each knows where funds are coming from.
